A BUILDER has shared CCTV footage on social media of an alleged theft of £1,000 worth of tools from his company van in Bournemouth.

Andy Cannings, who owns AMC Developments, uploaded footage of his van being targeted at his home on Thorncombe Close in Muscliff.

Mr Cannings had reversed the van as close to his house as possible as it had been broken into before.

The alleged incident - which Mr Cannings shared on Facebook - occurred at 2.55am on Tuesday (DEC 6).

“My daughter went to school,” he said. “She went out the door and all I heard was ‘Dad your van’s open’.

“Instantly I knew someone had been in there again.

“I opened up the back of the van but didn’t immediately see what had gone.”

After further inspecting his tools Mr Cannings noticed a Paslode nail gun worth £600 had gone - the sixth one he’s had taken - as well as a Makita saw worth £200.

He believes he lost somewhere in the region of £1,000 worth of tools in total.

Mr Cannings, who has four CCTV cameras around his home, said the footage showed a man going back and forth from the van towards Stratton Road.

He then finally heads off towards Portesham Gardens.

After putting the footage on Facebook, Mr Cannings said he was contacted by around half a dozen people in the area all claiming they’d been targeted too, including his neighbour who said she’d had her purse taken from her car.

“There must have been probably more than £10,000 of tools taken,” Mr Cannings added.

Dorset Police are investigating the incident in relation to a number of other similar thefts in and around the area including Tarrant Road, Charlton Close, Portesham Gardens, Horton Close and Wheaton Road in Pokesdown.

Officers believe all eight reports they’ve received are linked.
