POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an alleged assault in North Dorset.
Officers were called to reports of an alleged altercation at 10.30pm on Friday, October 21 between two groups of men at the junction of Bell Street and High Street.
During the incident one man – a local man aged in his 40s – was assaulted and sustained an injury to his head.
Three local men aged 28, 41 and 49 have been arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries until the end of December 2016.
Detective Constable Andrew Lovering, of Weymouth CID said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the Shaftesbury area at the relevant time on Friday evening and witnessed the incident to please contact Dorset Police.”
