A WOMAN who cared for her dying mum is appealing for help to find her lost coping aid.

Sarah, from Poole, who has Aspergers Syndrome, used a small toy badger as a tool to help boost her confidence and keep her calm in difficult situations.

She gave up work when her mum was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and became her full-time carer.

Sarah said: “After she died I didn’t do well and became isolated.

“One evening a friend talked me into going out in Boscombe but that night I lost Badger. Only my mum knew just how important he was to me.

“I was already very low and not coping with the world and thought that I would get over it but, I haven’t.

“He was in a little orange phone bag, the type the police give out to keep items safe.”

Sarah believes she lost the toy in the pedestrianised part of the precinct, and says she was too upset and anxious to return.

“More than a year later I am having counselling regarding my Mum and the continuing bereavement and, I can’t stop thinking about what happened to Badger as my Mum always reminded me to have him with me if I was anxious or sad”, she said.

“I wish I could have Badger back and have the connection with the support my Mum always gave me to go out into the world with confidence.”
