ON Monday night (October 17), I attended the Petula Clark concert at the Pavilion theatre in Bournemouth, and what a fabulous show it was.
Her five-piece band took to the stage, and without any announcement at all, Petula appeared at the side of the stage to rapturous applause from the sold out audience.
From that moment on you knew you were in for a great night. She sang many of her hits, such as Downtown, Sailor, Don’t Sleep in the Subway, and many others. She told little and interesting stories in between.
The word ‘legend’ is used far too easily these days, but Petula is a true legend.
She has entertained audiences for over 75 years in films, plays, stage shows, and, of course, her many hit records.
One question I would like to ask is why is this great entertainer not Dame Petula?
Many thanks Petula for a lovely evening’s entertainment.
