A MAN has appeared before magistrates charged with robbery after an incident in West Howe last week.

Police allege that a woman in her 60s was travelling on the 5a bus from Bournemouth town centre when a man started talking to her.

The woman got off the bus in Fernheath Road and it is alleged the same man followed her and stole her handbag along Verney Road.

The woman fell to the ground and suffered a cut to her eye during the reported incident.

Officers investigating said she was taken to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, where she was given three stitches.

Steven Dicks, of Moore Avenue in Bournemouth, appeared before magistrates at the Stafford Road court on Saturday.

The 38-year-old, who was remanded into custody, has not yet entered a plea.

He will next appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on November 10.
