The Wessex Way has reopened following a two-car crash.
The road was closed between Bournemouth West roundabout and County Gates westbound.
The crash involved a red Nissan Micra and a silver Peugeot 206 - each registered to local keepers - at around 10.45am.
No one was believed to have been injured in the collision and the vehicles were recovered.
Traffic was being diverted through Westbourne as officers dealt with the incident.
Vehicles travelling eastbound could be seen turning around at County Gates which caused congestion in the area.
The road was reopened at 12pm.
