HUNDREDS of small fish were found dead at Boscombe beach this morning.
Whitebait were seen on the sand by members of the public after they had washed to shore.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: “It’s nothing to be concerned about. It’s a semi-regular occurrence for the area. As the mackerel shoal swim through they get disorientated and when one makes a mistake they all make a mistake.”
The spokesman said that, in line with the Boscombe Rangers and the Environment Agency, they were happy for the shoal to be left and taken away by the next tide.
