A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy has become one of the town’s youngest charity organisers after planning a fundraiser for disabled children.

William Moore has branded his charity garden event this Sunday (July 3) ‘the best party ever'.

The summer garden fundraiser will be held at Priest House Museum and Garden in Wimborne Minster and will raise funds for Stanley’s Hydro House – a therapy pool for disabled children.

For weeks William has worked on the event by securing a venue, borrowing garden games, planning activities, getting raffle prizes, and even calling a meeting with the manager to ensure the smooth running of the day.

And there are the personal touches of a seven-year-old event organiser including food such as chocolate cake and biscuits as well as a treasure hunt he created especially to pull in more funds.

The youngster decided to help after hearing of the plight of his home tutor Leela Senior’s five-year-old son Stanley who relies on a wheelchair.

Stanley has quadriplegic dystonic cerebral palsy and supported by The Dorset Children’s Foundation, the family, from Wimborne, have launched an appeal to raise £30,000 for a therapy room and pool for local children with disabilities.

So far £12,000 has been raised for the cause and William hopes to boost the total.

William, said: “I feel very proud. Hopefully a lot of people will come. I want to raise lots of money for Stanley’s Hydro House.”

William learned the basics of event planning including budgeting and marketing during his lessons with Leela.

She said: “He has worked so hard planning everything. I am so proud of him especially because he’s only seven. It was a joy to watch his confidence bloom and though Stanley hasn't met William, he's really looking forward to the event.”

Entry to the family event, which features crafts, garden games, a raffle and refreshments from 2pm until 4pm, costs £1 for adults and is free for children.

William’s mum Sam, added: “He’s just amazing. He’s really run with this and it’s been so lovely to see him progress and learn some real-life skills as well as raising money for a fantastic cause.”
