Extremely heavy rain overnight left several roads flooded this morning.

Police closed Cooper Dean roundabout early this morning for two hours, with drivers being advised to find alternative routes, but it has since been reopened.

Officers from Dorset Police were called at 4.02am with reports of around a foot of water on the Cooper Dean Roundabout in the direction of the westbound slip road onto the Wessex Way.

A police spokesperson said that the flooding had subsided just before 6.15am so officers were able to remove the flooding signage and leave the area.

Bournemouth Echo:

Balmer Lawn Road in Brockenhurst is flooded as usual, and there are large patches of standing water on the Wessex Way which are likely to cause delays during rush hour.

More rain is expected later this afternoon.

The Met Office this morning issued a yellow weather warning for Dorset, Bournemouth, Poole.

The Chief Forecaster said: "Although some areas will miss them, potentially intense thundery downpours are likely this afternoon and evening before they clear later this evening or during the early hours of Friday.

"Please be aware of possible disruption to travel and localised flooding as well as frequent lightning."
