Dorset’s largest ever vegan fair takes place this weekend. The Bournemouth Vegan Fair returns to the BIC but for the first time ever it will be a two day event taking place on Saturday and Sunday. The event will host around 90 stalls and visitors will be able to sample tasters, collect recipes and talk to suppliers and experts. People are being urged to buy tickets in advance at dorsetveganevents.co.uk/bournemouth-tickets-2016 but they will also be on sale on the day. Runs from 11am to 4pm.

Folk on the Quay returns to Poole this weekend. The two-day event is free and features live music from more than 30 acts across five stages. There will also be two ceilidh dances and over twenty teams of morris dancers. Artists lined-up include award-winner Jackie Oates, Martha Tilston, Sultans of String, Jess Morgan Trio, Kadia, Tori Reed and more. 

It's Winton Carnival on Saturday. The parade starts at 10.45am with the Bournemouth Carnival Band before it moves along Wimborne Road, Cardigan Road and Maxwell Road, led by Town Crier David Squire. There will be music, stalls, rides for children and much more. Last year's event saw more than six hundred people take part in the parade. 

Not going to Glastonbury? If you still want the festival experience but closer to home, V Dub at the Pub comes to Wimborne from today. The three-day event promises music, paddle boarding, zorbing, a surf simulator, dodgeball, a host of food and drink stands, a 4x4 arena, plus new for this year, you can hire a bell tent if you want to camp in luxury. The site is opposite Julians Bridge. Weekend and day tickets are still available. 

An Armed Forces Day event is being held at Carvers Playing Field on Southampton Road on Saturday. It runs from 10am to 4pm featuring military re-enactments, Royal Signals display from Blandford, children’s rides, live music, beer tents, hog roast, cannon and musket fire, stalls and a fly past by the Battle of Britain Spitfire, which is free to attend.

Children can join the Young Rangers at Durlston Country Park on Saturday from 10.30am to 12noon. The monthly club helps children aged six to nine learn about wildlife with craft activities and games. £3 per child - with discounts for two or more children. See durlston.co.uk for more.

Bournemouth University's Festival of Learning starts on Saturday. The free annual event, which runs until Wednesday, features more than 100 activites and workshops. Saturday sees a festival Family Day taking place at the BU’s Talbot Campus with kids sport camps, exercise classes including yoga, Zumba and a velodrome cycling session. There's even ravepong and raveminton, plus free health checks and stop motion animation sessions.

Please note: Thousands of people are set to attend Tankfest this weekend but tickets for Saturday and Sunday are sold out. There won't be any tickets available on the gate and organisers are advising people not to turn up without a ticket.
