RESIDENTS from Canford Heath showed their support for the community at a summer fair on Saturday.

Organised by the Association of Residents at Canford Heath, ARCH, the event was held at Canford Heath community centre.

The newly-formed organisation which aims to bring together residents and community groups, hosted the event, hailing it a great success.

Visitors were able to browse stalls showing off art, woodwork, crafts, books, and plants, with plenty of activities for youngsters.

Paul Evans entertained the crowd with music, along with a performance by a local choir and ukulele players as well.

Frances Wheatley, secretary of ARCH, said: "It was a fantastic day.

"I'm so pleased with how it all went and the support we had.

"All the stalls did well and there were lots of people there - we sold around 200 raffle tickets.

"People were saying how nice it was to meet up with neighbours and many didn't realise the community centre was even there."

She added: "This is our first summer event and I'm really pleased people liked it."

As well the stalls raising money for individual charities, proceeds will go towards supporting ARCH and in turn the wider community.
