Dr Jane Goodall has joined the Bournemouth Natural Science Society as a patron.
Dr Goodall is considered to be the foremost expert on chimpanzees, having conducted a 55 year study of wild chimpanzees in Tanzania. She founded the Jane Goodal Institute in 1977 with the aim of supporting this research and protecting the chimpanzees and their habitats.
Dr Rodney Cooper, President of the BNSS, said “We are thrilled that such a well-respected personality in the scientific world can see the value in our Society and is happy to support us in continuing our work.”
The BNSS was formed in 1903 and aims to promote the study and enjoyment of the natural sciences and history, with events throughout the year, including weekly talks with expert speakers, summer field trips to local wildlife hotspots and two open days every year for the local community to explore our collections.
Chris Packham is already a patron.
