A crash between a car and a motorbike closed Castle Lane West this morning.

The collision took place at the junction with Haverstock Road.

It involved a Renault Clio, registered to a man from Bournemouth, and a white Kawasaki motorbike, registered to a man from Poole.

Ambulance were called to the scene. According to a Dorset Police spokesman the motorcyclist, a 48-year-old man, has received serious but not life threatening injuries.

He was taken to Poole Hospital with a suspected fractured leg.

Drivers were earlier reporting delays of up to an hour on Castle Lane West and East.

Cones are back in place separating the two lanes on the approach to Blackwater, and the knock-on effects were causing long delays, with queues back to Castlepoint.

One driver told the Echo he'd been queuing for an hour on Castle Lane West and had given up and gone home.

There was also an abnormal load travelling between Poole and Ringwood which may have added to the delays.
