POLICE have responded to multiple road traffic collisions on the A35 following a heavy hail storm.
An accident involving five vehicles led to one lane being closed on the A35 Eastbound at the Affpuddle/Tolpuddle turn off earlier this morning.
The vehicles included a blue BMW registered to an unknown owner, a grey Audi registered to a Dorchester owner, a purple BMW registered to a Weymouth owner, and a green Jeep registered to a Wimborne owner.
A black car registered to a Weymouth owner was also involved. There were no injuries. Police were alerted to the incident at 9.30am.
Police are still at the scene waiting for vehicles to be recovered but the road is now believed to be clear.
The incident is thought to have caused some minor damage to barriers at the side of the road.
Prior to this, police were also called to a one vehicle road traffic collision on the A35 Westbound.
A black Mazda, registered to an owner living outside Dorset, was involved.
The incident happened between the Puddletown turn off and B3150 Stinsford Hill.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said minor damage had been caused to a barrier but no one involved had been injured.
Both incidents occurred following a heavy hail storm in the area.
