A GIANT water slide is coming to Lymington High Street this Sunday.

The attraction is due to be put on the big slope at the bottom of Lymington High Street to raise money for local charity Oakhaven Hospice.

The idea was inspired by the Bristol water slide, which was put on a city centre street in 2014.

It will start from 11am, with the slide positioned from Costa Coffee down to the buffer zone that ends on Gosport Street.

The event is now sold out after news of the slide 'went viral' earlier this year.

Fancy dress and fun outfits are encouraged with all parcipants given a pre-allocated time.

Only people over the age of seven can take part.

Speaking earlier this year, Mike Denny, head of fundraising and communications, said: "We have worked very closely with our local councils on this, who were understandably keen to know in detail about our plans for marshalling, health and safety and environmentally of course.

"They have all been very supportive in all respects including our application for a road closure for the day. I think suffice to say Lymington is very excited about this.

"We are also very excited that Fred Olsen Travel Agents, who opened in Lymington in 2015, have agreed to become the main event sponsors."

Cancer Research UK are also bringing their giant water slide to Bournemouth this summer. The date and location has yet to be confirmed, but the charity says it will definitely still be appearing at some stage.
