POOLE's Twin Sails Bridge will close for maintenance from Monday March 14, Borough of Poole has confirmed.
The bridge will shut for up to one week, to enable engineers to carry out minor repairs, general cleaning and scheduled maintenance.
It will be closed to road traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians, from 7am.
During the closure Poole Bridge will operate as normal, says the council.
BOP engineering manager John Rice said: "These bridges are an important part of our road network so it is essential we carry out annual preventative maintenance in a planned way to keep them operating efficiently and reliably in the long term.
This maintenance is even more vital as we look to close Poole Bridge in the autumn for extensive repairs."
The works to be undertaken on the Twin Sails include the installation of shock absorbers, high voltage safety checks, hydraulics servicing, replacing failed LEDs and lamps, and checking the bridge's control systems.
