THE director of Poole’s very own music emporium has explained on film why he has signed up as a partner for the Daily Echo School Awards.

FreeStyle, guitars and accessories in Holton Heath Trading Park officially opened in November last year.

Bournemouth Echo: After nine months the Freestyle shop is now open in Holton Heath Trading Estate selling a range of acoustic and electric guitars all designed by the company.

The company not only provides music enthusiasts with a place to buy guitars, amps and drum kits but also gives them a recording space and a live music venue to perform.

It is not just a place for experienced musicians, though, as managing director Mark Patrick believes it is important to teach all youngsters how to play a musical instrument.

Mark and his band of merry men and women already provide parent-and-toddler music sessions as well as music lessons for older children, teenagers and adults.

And this is just a taster of what they provide at their impressive space at Holton Heath Trading Park.

In the video Mark explains why he felt it was important to recognise those people that make a difference in education.

“A lot of kids could do so much more with music if they were inspired to do so which is why I jumped at the chance to get involved with celebrating those teachers that inspire our children,” said Mark.

The first ever Daily Echo School Awards aims to reward excellence in education from school leaders to lunchtime supervisors and of course music teachers.

Bournemouth Echo:

Nominations are sought in nine different categories and include not only teachers and school leaders but also all the support staff who go the extra mile to enhance the education of young people across Dorset and its borders.

Nominate online at bournemouthecho.co.uk/schoolawards by the February 5 deadline.
