A WOMAN who had covered her face with a scarf dumped a sick dog in a Wimborne garden at the weekend.

The four-year-old crossbreed terrier, who has been renamed Molly, was suffering from a severe infection and "on the verge of death" when she was thrown over the wall of a garden in Days Court last Sunday, August 23.

Now inspectors from the RSPCA are calling for information about the callous act as Molly battles for life.

Inspector Graham Hammond said the homeowner was left shocked when she saw a woman with a scarf wrapped around her head dump poorly Molly over her wall before running off and driving away in a van.

The RSPCA were quickly called, and inspectors took the "extremely lethargic and unwell" dog to a vet.

After being put in intensive care, an emergency spay operation was carried out.

Insp Hammond said: "When I arrived I saw this sad-looking, very pretty terrier who was in quite a bad way.

"She was weak and covered in blood and had to be taken to the vets immediately.

“This is just a really sad situation because if she would have only had treatment for the infection last week, or if she had just been spayed like we always encourage people to do, then she would not be in this critical condition.

“Molly was just dumped and left to suffer in an extremely poorly condition and that has put her life in danger.

“We are looking to find out exactly how this may have happened to poor Molly and would urge anyone with any further information to please come forward.”
