FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out a small fire on the embankment of the railway line at Harman's Cross, near Swanage, this afternoon.
A crew from Swanage fire station was sent to the scene at 1.45pm.
A Dorset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Upon arrival crews confirmed a small area of embankment alight and worked track side to extinguish the fire, therefore Swanage Railway were contacted to instruct all trains to proceed with caution along this area.
"The fire was extinguished using one hose reel jet and trains were running back as normal shortly after."
The incident was over by 2.05pm.
