TWO young girls have been captured on CCTV brazenly stealing from a driveway in Poole.

Carey Howlett returned to his home on Brixey Road, Parkstone, on Saturday June 20 after a day out with his partner to find the chrome dust caps on the wheels of his Audi TT had vanished.

Mr Howlett has security cameras located outside his house and when he inspected the footage was shocked to see the culprits, who targeted the car shortly after 11am, appeared to be primary school aged children.

The images show the youngsters, who used clothing to partially cover their heads, approach the front door before turning their attention to the wheels of the car. They then removed dust caps from three of the four wheels before calmly leaving the scene.

He reported the incident to Dorset Police but said he has been left disappointed that the force has not made any progress with its investigation.

“I know they are only £6 caps but it is concerning to see children this young committing crime like this,” he said. “From the video it looks like they know exactly what they are looking for, exactly what they are doing. You have to think they must be under instruction from an adult, which is worrying.

“And if they are doing this at this age what will they move onto next? The police said it was anti-social behaviour and that they take that seriously, but they haven’t done anything about it.”

He said the footage should be passed to nearby schools to see whether anyone recognises the culprits.

“They look like they could only be 11 or 12 years old,” he said. “There are signs on my window clearly stating there are CCTV cameras that they have obviously missed.”

A spokesman for Dorset Police said the alleged theft was reported to them on Sunday June 21. Officers attended and inquiries are ongoing.
