THANKS a million!

The Daily Echo's website has registered more than one million unique browsers in a single month for the second time.

We registered 1,060,902 unique browsers to bournemouthecho.co.uk last month and a record number of page impressions at 9.87 million.

Readers are visiting the site 99,000 times every single day - the third highest figure of any Newsquest newspaper.

More of you than ever are visiting us from mobile devices, with more than 620,000 of those uniques recorded from mobile and tablet.

And more of you are reading us at weekends too, as we continue to improve how and when we cover news on Saturdays and Sundays.

Stories you were reading this month included the plea for mourners at the funeral of a soldier who died penniless and alone - our most viewed story from Twitter and Facebook.

The first time we topped the million mark was January.

Controversy over Poole firm Lush refusing to let a nurse buy more than 10 products was our best read story of the month. Local election results were close behind, proving that local news is still at the core of what we do online.

The Cherries promotion to the Premier League unsurprisingly remains our most popular sport subject, with our galleries from the final game and the Champions Parade receiving almost 1m views in a single week.

And our social media audience keeps growing too - we now have more than 48,000 likes on Facebook, the highest of any paper in the Newsquest group, and just under a million articles viewed via Facebook this month.

And to celebrate, we've rolled out a new look for the website.

The Echo's Acting Editor/Head of News, Andy Martin, said: "This is a fantastic achievement by every member of our team. To register more than one million unique browsers and nearly ten million page impressions in a month is a phenomenal achievement.

"We're developing a huge audience online alongside a continued strong newspaper sales performance. It's a clear sign that people know exactly where to come for all the news and information they need."
