FAMILY-FRIENDLY show Pitschi - The Kitten with Dreams proved to be a delightful little play. Audience members were greeted on stage by the main character Lizzie ringing a bell.

Quirky from start to finish, the Edinburgh Fringe hit is based on Swiss author and illustrator Hans Fischer's award-winning picture book, Pitschi, a tale that has delighted generations of children - and cat lovers - all around the world.

Pitschi doesn't want to be a kitten and doesn't care for the usual rough and tumble and mischievous fun like most cats his age, but instead dreams of being something else - a chicken perhaps, maybe a goat, or even a rabbit, as he feels that anything is better than being a moggy.

This original production used a rich mix of storytelling, physical theatre, music and song to tell the story of the kitten that learns to be happy by being exactly what she is.

The only slight negative would be that not all the children could see the stage floor, where a lot of the action took place.

Following the show, children in the audience were invited to the front of the stage to meet and play with the animal characters and receive a fetching Pitschi sticker.
