POLICE are calling for information after two men were knocked off their bicycles by a van in Christchurch.

Before the incident, which happened at around 7pm on Thursday, May 7, the two cyclists - aged 26 and 33 and from the Bournemouth and Christchurch area respectively - were cycling along Lymington Road close to the junction with Bure Lane.

The van clipped one of the men, causing him to fall off his bike, and the other man then collided with the back of him.

Both men suffered from fractured hands, with one sustaining muscle injuries to his hip.

The van, believed to be a grey Ford Transit, Mercedes Vito or similar, failed to stop at the scene. It is believed the van may have had writing or logo on the side.

PC Matt Saunders, of Christchurch police, said: “I am appealing for the driver of the van or anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact me on 101.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 7:390. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
