A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a fire broke out in her Bournemouth home this morning.

Firefighters were called to the property in Singleton Drive, Ensbury Park, at 6.20am to reports a television had caught on fire on the ground floor.

A spokesman from the South Western Ambulance Service said paramedics were called to the scene by the fire service.

The spokesman said the woman suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.

Firefighters from Redhill Park and Springbourne fire stations attended the incident.

Wearing breathing apparatus, the firefighters extinguished the blaze, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault in the television, using hose reel jets.

A spokesman from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said the lounge of the property suffered severe fire and smoke damage.

The remainder of the ground floor suffered moderate smoke damage.

All emergency services have since left the scene.
