BOROUGH of Poole officers are urging residents to get involved with International Compost Awareness Week.
The council has teamed-up with getcomposting.com to offer residents a buy one, get one free offer on select compost bins during the week, May 4-10.
Borough of Poole head of environmental and consumer protection services Shaun Robson said: "More than 30 per cent of the average household waste can be composted and although many households already compost at home, we want others to get involved.
"This is a great incentive to encourage more residents to get composting and set up their own composting communities sharing the rewards.
"Home composting organic waste also helps to significantly reduce carbon emissions and can also be used as an affective and sustainable waste management method to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill."
