A MAN who has been diagnosed with cancer three times left his trousers at home for a charity walk with friends.

Oliver Price, 29, from Bournemouth wore just a t-shirt and a pair of boxers for the walk from Sandbanks to Penn Hill and was joined by eight other men in their undies. The group raised over £2,000 for cancer charities.

“I’ve always wanted to give something back as two charities, CLIC Sargant and Teenage Cancer Trust, really helped me when I had cancer,” he said.

His wife, Sarah, said the idea was inspired by the MoonWalk challenge where women walk in their bras to raise money for breast cancer charities. “We wanted to test the waters first to make sure no one would get arrested for walking around in their boxers!

“But we’re hoping to make it an annual thing and do it on a larger scale next year.”

Oliver added: “We got a couple of wolf whistles from these lads on their surf boards but none of the ladies were interested, which surprised us!”

When he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, Oliver was able to get an operation to remove the tumour straight away.

“Then, on my 21st birthday, I went in for one of my monthly check-ups. It was the first time I went alone, as I would usually have my mum or wife with me. It was then they told me the cancer had come back,” he said.

“When I was 22, a lump started to grow in the right hand side of my stomach and within three months it had grown to the size of a football.

“I later had a pulmonary embolism as a result and had to go through a nine-month course of chemo.”

He added: “I’ve gone past the five year all-clear point now, so the prognosis of it coming back is drastically reduced, which is a huge relief.”

Sarah said: “We were so grateful to be able to get back to our normal life. When he was given the all-clear it was like closing a book.

“We have two kids now, a two-year-old and a one-year-old, and they’re both little miracles.”
