A POPULAR radio presenter was forced to apologise today after a listener called the Duchess of Cornwall an "ugly old bat" live on air.
BBC Radio Solent's Julian Clegg said sorry twice to listeners who might have been offended during a phone-in about the Royal family.
It happened during a debate about Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and whether she should ever become Queen.
One listener, whose name was Pearl, described Camilla as an “ugly old bat” before she referred to Prince Charles as a “pillock”.
Mr Clegg, who is the breakfast presenter on the Southampton based show, quickly apologised to listeners and allowed Pearl to continue as long as she stopped her 'bad language'.
The presenter, who lives in the New Forest, then apologised further before the programme ended for the news just before 10am.
