Hundreds of Cherries fans camped outside the ground to ensure they got their hands on tickets for the last crucial game of the season.

It is estimated more than 1,000 people queued outside Goldsands Stadium for tickets to AFC Bournemouth's away game at Charlton Athletic on Saturday May 2.

Season ticket holders were able to get their hands on tickets for the game from 9am this morning, but some fans went the extra mile, turning up on Sunday evening to ensure they were first in line.

By 9am, the queue snaked around the stadium and along the length of the Steve Fletcher Stand.

The club has been issued with an allocation of 2,900 tickets for the match at The Valley.

Andy Saul and Debbie Dominey, both from Bournemouth, arrived at Dean Court at 7pm on Sunday evening.

First in the queue they stayed all night to get tickets for what could be the biggest game in AFC Bournemouth's history.

Andy said: "It's a pivotal game and frankly we've just got to be there.

"We just want to witness it. Even if we have already secured promotion, the atmosphere at that final game will be incredible."

Clive Allen, who also braved the overnight stay, added: "It could be the biggest game this club has ever seen.

"After all the years of struggling this is our time and could be massive.

"I just hope we do it."

And Tracey Mulholland from Christchurch said she had arrived at 6.30am on Monday to ensure she had a ticket for the game.

"It could be that we have already been promoted already - and I hope so - but the celebrations will be amazing", she said.

"I have been a supporter for 30years - good and bad.

"I do think we will get promotion but I want to see it for myself."
