DORSET Police is looking for new special constables.

Anyone wanting to take up the voluntary role has until Monday, March 30 to submit their application.

Special constables are required to work a minimum of 16 hours a month and must be 18 or above.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “As a special constable you will tackle a range of policing issues whether that be attending incidents, taking part in specialist operations or routine patrols.

“The role allows you to support and help resolve issues for the people of Dorset, not to mention learn skills and gain experience that could really enhance your career prospects in future.”

Martyn Underhill, Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset, said: “Becoming a volunteer special constable is a great way for you to make a difference in your community, whilst at the same time developing your personal skills. Special constables come from all walks of life but whatever your background, you will take pride from giving something back to the community of Dorset.

“We are keen to exploit the skills you can bring. We are expanding the roles that special constables can fulfil, with posts for marine officers, wildlife officers and rural officers all coming on line this year.”
