AN AUDI was left "spinning on its roof" after a three-vehicle crash closed Parley Lane.

The emergency services were called to a stretch of the road just outside Adventure Wonderland at 6.45am after the car was involved in a collision with a white van and a Yellow Bus.

However, despite the damage sustained to all three of the vehicles, no one was injured in the smash, believed to have occurred during an overtaking manoeuvre.

But there was gridlock on surrounding roads for much of the morning, with drivers caught in the resulting chaos.

Speaking at the scene, PC Mark Nills, who is based at the police station in Ferndown, said it was "quite amazing" that no serious injuries had been sustained.

"We were called to a three-vehicle road traffic collision this morning," he said.

"All of the vehicles are registered to local keepers. Minor injuries only have been reported."

He said no arrests have been made, although a man is helping officers with their enquiries.

Officials from the local authority were called to clear a 100-metre stretch of road littered with debris, which included glass, the bumpers of the van and the car, and fragments of plastic coverings from the vehicles' lights.

A road sign struck by one of the vehicles had also been uprooted.

The driver of the van, who did not give his name, said: "We were all very lucky.

"I swerved but it was too late. It just happened very quickly. I didn't expect to be picking bits of my van up from the road today."

Another onlooker, who was travelling in a car behind the bus and Audi, said: "The car hit a road sign and just rolled.

"It was spinning on its roof. I can't believe it wasn't more serious.

A spokesperson from the Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Redhill and Ferndown Fire Stations attended the crash, adding: "Upon arrival, one vehicle was on its roof, with no persons trapped inside.

"Three casualties were treated at the scene by paramedics. Passengers were escorted off the bus and crews made vehicles safe and handed over to the police."

One person treated by paramedics was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The road is now reopen.
