Dozens of firefighters were called to the Roundhouse Hotel after an electric hand drier in a ground floor restroom caught alight.
Five fire engines were sent to the six-storey hotel on Meyrick Road after the alarm was raised at around 2.45pm on Saturday.
When they arrived they found the fire, which is believed to have been caused by an overheated or burnt-out motor, had self-extinguished.
Minor smoke damage was caused to the toilet block.
