LUXURY yacht builder Sunseeker is offering one lucky applicant the chance to land their dream job.

The Poole-based company is looking for someone to take up the role of Superyacht Yard Captain, a position that includes carrying out daily tests of a range of sparkling motor yachts.

Sunseeker human resources director Sian Thomas said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and dream job.

“As we continue to build on our range of exciting new models and produce even more boats in the larger superyacht category, our new Superyacht Yard Captain will be an integral part of the team.

“Every Sunseeker is the result of an uncompromising and unmatched approach to design, craftsmanship and performance, and the new captain will get to experience this quality out on the water on a full-time daily basis whilst still being able to go home every night.”

The position will also include liaising with the company’s clients, ensuring a smooth handover of their new yachts.

Explaining the role, a company spokesman said: “From Sunseeker’s base in Poole, the new captain will embody the spirit of excellence that has driven Sunseeker to its pre-eminent position in the marine market today.

“Testing current models such as the 28 Metre Yacht and 116 Sport Yacht, plus future models such as the 131 Yacht launching later this year, and the iconic 155 Yacht - the largest and most advanced yacht Sunseeker has ever produced - the yard captain will get hands-on with the company’s entire range.”

The company’s first 155 Yacht was sold to Formula One mogul Eddie Jordan for a reported £32 million last year.

It can accommodate 12 guests and 10 crew, has an onboard nightclub, a panoramic viewing area, dining area, bar and its own jet ski garage.

Sunseeker has been making motorboats since 1979, when it began in a Poole boatyard under brothers Robert and John Braithwaite.

For years the firm was the largest privately-owned company in the region and the world's largest privately-owned builder of motor yachts.

In 2007, the company acquired the 11.5 acre Luhrs Marine Factory site at Osprey Quay in Portland for £7m and announced a major expansion.

In June, 2013, a stake of almost 92 per cent in Sunseeker was sold to Chinese commercial property conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group for £320million.
