A WOMAN has been left seriously injured after a car smashed into a lamppost in Poole this evening.
Five people, including two children, were taken to hospital after emergency services were called to Pinecliff Road at 5.57pm following reports a silver Vauxhall Corsa had crashed.
Police closed the road between the entrance to Branksome Chine car park and Westminster Road while firefighters helped paramedics reach the casualties inside the vehicle.
Speaking at the scene, Sgt Rhys Griffiths, of Poole traffic police, said: “All five occupants of the car, including two children, have been taken to Poole Hospital for further assessment.
“It is believed one of the adult passengers has sustained a serious injury, which is not life-threatening.
“The car was being driven by a 77-year-old male from the Christchurch area.
“We are appealing for anybody who witnessed the incident to contact PC 1846 Ferguson on 101.”
