WIMBORNE residents are set to go flipping mad for the annual pancake race around the Minster church.

The event, set to take place on Tuesday, February 17, will be the 18th since the race was revived in 1998 after a 16-year absence.

All are welcome to take part, with the event beginning at 11am outside the main entrance to the church.

The first heat will be run while the pancake bell is tolled. All competitors should report to the North Porch by 10.30am to enrol, complete with frying pan and ready cooked pancake.

Challengers aged 18 and over will bid to win the Old Bakehouse Cafe Perpetual Challenge Cup and become the Minster Pancake Champion 2015.

In addition to the adult races, there will be heats for those under 18.

Children aged four to nine, 10 to 13 and 14 to 18 will battle it out in a series of runs.

There will also be a category for toddlers. Entry forms are available in the Minster or Church House.
