Celebrate Burns Night 

Sunday is Burns Night and if you're in the mood to celebrate Scotland’s most famous son, Robert Burns, then check out these recipes for Lorne Sausage, BannocksCranachanArbroath Smokies baked with whisky and cream and Haggis and Pancetta Roulade. There's even a recipe for mini veggie haggis

Enjoy some award-winning folk

A BBC Radio 2 folk award-winning trio will perform at Sturminster Marshall Village Hall on Saturday. Lady Maisery- made up of Hannah Jones, Hazel Askew and Rowan Rheingans- will play from 7.30pm in an event which has been organised by Artsreach. Brush up on your cycling skills

Free cycle training is available to any Bournemouth resident who wants to learn to ride or improve their skills. Lifecycle UK offers group sessions and individual sessions to people who live, work or study in the town. A small group course for beginners will be held at Kings Park on Saturday, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm and a course for improvers will take place at Bournemouth Cycling Centre on January 31 between 10.30am until 12.30pm. Look at the stars 

A stargazing event to look for the moon, Jupiter, star clusters, winter constellations and more will take place this Saturday. Join experts from the Wessex Astronomical Society for a short talk and to use telescopes to view the night sky at 7pm at Durlston Country Park. Cost is £3 per person, meeting at the learning centre, and it is weather dependent, so please call on the day to confirm on 01929 424443. Visit durlston.co.uk

Visit the Pound Puppy Animal Rescue Bazaar

The Pound Puppy Animal Rescue Bazaar takes place this Saturday, January 24, from 10am to 2pm. It takes place at the Courtyard Craft Centre on Huntick Road and will feature a table-top sale of bric-a-brac and collectables, cake stall, book stall and second-hand clothes. There will also be a raffle and dogs looking for new homes can be viewed from 11am to 1pm, with entry costing 50p per person. Join in the Big Garden Bird Watch

The RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch will take place on Saturday, January 24, and Sunday January 25. Thousands of people are expected to take part, picking an hour over the weekend to discover wildlife in their gardens. Go to rspb.org.uk. You can read more here

Look out for birds at Poole Harbour

Cruise around Poole Harbour to look for different birds during an organised event with RSPB and Brownsea Island Ferries on Sunday, January 25. Cost is £18 for adults, £16 for RSPB members and £9 for children, which includes exclusive landing on Brownsea Island for two hours with access to Dorset Wildlife Trust nature reserve. Watch some live music

An antiques fair will take place at Highcliffe Castle this weekend. The fair will be over both days from 11am until 4pm.

Celebrate Poole RNLI's 150th anniversary 

A service commemorating the 150th anniversary of Poole Lifeboat Station is being held at St James Church on Sunday, January 25, at 2pm. The celebratory service is open to all.

Soak up the sounds of the BSO winds quartet

Help clean the beach

Dorset Wildlife Trust is organising a Winter Beach Clean at Kimmeridge Bay tomorrow afternoon from 2pm to 3.30pm. Volunteers can meet at the Fine Foundation Marine Centre by the slipway. Equipment provided, but volunteers are asked to take gloves if they have them.

Watch Snow White on ice

TV chef Rustie Lee has teamed up with The Russian Ice Stars for classic fairytale Snow White which is on at the Pavilion. The show runs until Sunday.
