A SCHOOL pupil was struck by a car as they made their way into school in Ringwood this morning.

The crash happened outside of Ringwood School on Parsonage Barn Lane at around 8.30am and involved one car.

It is not believed that the boy received any serious injuries as a result of the collision.

Christina Edwards, head teacher at the school, said: “It involved a boy in year 7 who ran in front of a car as he was in a rush to get to school.

“Fortunately he doesn’t have any serious injuries, just a few bumps and bruises.

“However, I think that the lesson here is to look before you cross the road and I think that it highlights road safety, which I think I will be sending a note to parents about.

“It really is also important for parents to drop their children off safely. Perhaps drop them a bit further away from the school so they can walk in for a bit longer, both for health and for safety reasons.”
