THE CHILDREN’S charity Barnardo’s has opened a shop with a difference in Poole.

The new store, which is located at the neighbourhood centre in Canford Heath, is the only Bernarndo’s shop in Dorset specialising in children’s items.

Store manager Roxana Northey said: “A children’s-only store is still quite a new concept but we hope it will be a big success.

“Parents and carers can find so many wonderful things for anyone from a new-born baby to a ten-year-old.

“Shoppers will be able to browse for a bargain or deliver their own donations, and by doing so they’ll be supporting our work with children and young people who are challenged by poverty, abuse, disability or discrimination.”

The store will sell a variety of items including clothes, books, toys, pushchairs, blankets and bed linen and all money raised will support the charity’s work with vulnerable and disadvantaged youngsters across the UK.

The team is currently recruiting local volunteers to help sort stock and serve customers at the shop.

Roxana said: “Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable retail experience while supporting a good cause.

“We are looking for people from all walks of life, of all ages and with different levels of time to give.”

The new shop, adjacent to Asda, is open between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays.
