A SPORTS car club is planning to head to Monaco from Bournemouth to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Red Dragon Motorsport has put together the Helluvit Sports Car Tour, which is scheduled to set off from Bournemouth at dawn on April 12 to journey to the motorsport mecca in time for the opening of a special motor show.

The club is free to join and this year marks a decade since it was set up, with the run dedicated to member Colin Jones, known as CJ, who died in November after a short illness.

The run is designed to arrive in time for participants to attend the Top Marques Monaco Luxury and Supercar Show on April 16.

In previous years the show has been opened by James Bond film star Roger Moore and HRH Prince Albert of Monaco, but this year the identity of the celebrity doing the honours remains a closely-guarded secret.

The man behind the run, club director David Jones, said: “As 2015 will be the 10th anniversary of the establish-ment of the Helluvit Sports Car Club, we decided to stage a few bigger events to celebrate.

“One such event is a road run to Monte Carlo and back – ‘Monte Carlo or Bust’ – to arrive in time for participants to attend the Top Marques Monaco Luxury and Supercar Show at the Grimaldi Forum and we are also going to host an anniversary party after the run where the Helluvit Blues Band will assemble for one night only.

“Both events are expected to be quite loud!

“The tour is designed for people who enjoy taking their sports car for a spin on great driving roads.

“If you haven’t got a sports car, beg, borrow or hire – but please don’t steal – one and join us as we head down to Monaco.”

The run is from April 12-19 inclusive of travel and the run is not-for-profit in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Alongside Red Dragon, the event is being back by ETC International College, Rowan White Photographic, Prestige Driving Enhancements and student agency International Contacts.
