CALLING all young musicians.
The Wimborne Minster Folk Festival is giving a fantastic opportunity to win a spot on stage at this year’s event.
Budding headliners aged 13 to 25 are invited to showcase their talent at a free youth music competition, Wimborne Live and Loud, at the Allendale Centre on Friday, February 6 from 7pm.
The event is free but donations towards the Allendale’s fundraising appeal will be gratefully accepted.
Katie Stickley, the folk festival’s youth coordinator, said: “We are seeking dynamic young artists and bands to battle it out for a place on stage at this year’s festival.
“Whether you are a solo performer, an acoustic duo or a five-piece band, we would love to see what you can do.
“Come prepared with one song that best showcases your talent.”
Bands and artists can pre-register online or arrive no later than 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
The acts will be judged by an expert panel including Will McNicol (Young Guitarist of the Year 2011), singer-songwriter Hannah Robinson, Moe Kochar, chairman of Wimborne Minster Folk Festival, Andy Pickering from Absolute Music and a guest judge.
The winner on the night will win a spot on stage at this year’s folk festival in June plus a day of recording worth £140 at Wimborne’s Basement Studio, donated by Wimborne Minster Town Council.
Prizes up for grabs also include two four-hour rehearsal sessions at Absolute Music in Poole.
