DORSET appears to have escaped major damage from wild weather overnight, but commuters are still likely to face problems this morning.

Strong winds and heavy rain have battered the county, with trees falling on roads around the area.

One is reported to have come down in Leven Avenue, Bournemouth, as well as on the A351 at Sturminster Marshall and the A352 at East Stoke.

Trees are also down at Tout Hill, Wool, and Bere Road, Bere Regis.

Roads are also suffering from flooding.

Drivers are being warned to take care around the area as a result.

On the trains, flooding is reported at Hinton Admiral, causing delays on the main line between Dorset and London.

Trains are running, but with delays of up to 40 minutes.

Power cuts have also been reported in parts of Poole and Wimborne.

A Met Office yellow weather warning for gales of up to 80mph in coastal and hilly sites is in place until 8pm tonight.

A warning is also in place for rain until 4pm.
