FIREFIGHTERS are battling a New Forest property blaze this evening.
The fire, in a detached house in Brook Lane, Woodgreen, north of Fordingbridge, was spotted by police at around 6.30pm, and there are reportedly eight fire engines at the scene.
A spokesman for Hampshire Police said the occupants had escaped safely and no ambulances had been called.
The fire affected the first floor of the building and the roof but is now under control. The fire did not spread to any surrounding properties.
An onlooker at the scene said the cottage had been "completely wrecked" and that Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset fire services were attending.
While Brook Lane has not been closed, police warned it might be difficult to get through due to the volume of firefighting vehicles while the blaze is tackled.
