RACE for Life runners who raised funds for Cancer Research UK are urged to return their sponsorship money as soon as they can.

Hundreds of women took part in the event on Bournemouth seafront in June this year, dressed in pink and running in either the 5k or 10k races.

But Liz Frisby, the charity’s events manager, said last year a third of women who took part in the race on their behalf did not return any money.

Race for Life at Bournemouth Sea Front and Poole Park were fantastic events,” she said.

“We want to say heart-felt thanks again to everyone who took part or supported our participants, as well as the wonderful volunteers who helped make it happen.

“We are still waiting for thousands of pounds to be returned this year.

“Many people don’t realise that their entry fee only covers the cost of the event.

“It’s the sponsorship money that really makes a difference towards funding life-saving research, much of which happens very close to us in the South West.

“So, whatever the amount, we’re asking everyone to make every effort to return their sponsorship money as soon as possible.”
