POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was injured in a hit and run near Blandford.

The 51-year-old woman was knocked from her bike as she negotiated a roundabout along the A354 Blandford Bypass at Pimperne at 2.30pm on Saturday, suffering cuts and bruises to her arms and legs.

The vehicle involved is described as a black people carrier and was being driven by a man in his 50s with grey hair. The driver is said to have shouted at the victim during the incident before driving away from the scene.

PC Shane Hewitt, of Blandford police, said he wants to hear from anybody who may be able to identify the vehicle.

He added: “I would particularly like to hear from one witness who took a note of the registration number of the offending vehicle and gave her contact details to the victim. Sadly this information was lost.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 25:275. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
