AN investigation has been launched after a boat collided with another vessel in Poole Harbour on Saturday morning.

Poole RNLI all-weather lifeboat was called to reports of the incident at around 8.30am.

They were sent to Lake Pier and a volunteer found a 40ft motorboat had been involved in a collision with a moored yacht and become entangled.

There was nobody on the vessels but both boats suffered some damage.

The lifeboat crew boarded the boats to disentangle them, attaching a tow to bring the motorboat back to Poole Town Quay marina.

Solent Coastguard then sent the inshore lifeboat to search the area to check if there was anything else untoward or any further damage to any other vessels in the vicinity. The volunteer crew scoured the area off Lake Pier and the lifeboat carried out a thorough search of the area.

Coastguards and marine police are now investigating the incident.
