SIXTH-FORM Students from Bournemouth’s Bishop of Winchester Academy visited Airways Aviation to learn more about the fascinating industry.
Vice-principal Paul Holman and 12 members of the academy’s first Sixth Form were welcomed by Airways Aviation UK’s managing director Ollie Pennington.
The visitors had the opportunity to view some of company’s planes and helicopters and ask questions relating to careers and business.
Mr Holman said: “It is important to provide our students with engage-ment opportunities with companies such as Airways Aviation to ensure exposure to a wide variety of career opportunities. “The students need to remember that the sky’s the limit provided a fully-committed approach is made to a flying career.”
Mr Pennington worked his way up after starting with the company, formerly Bournemouth helicopters, on work experience.
He pledged to offer work experience places to some of the Academy’s students.
A specialised Aviation Foundation theory course has now been launched by Airways Aviation for those looking for a first step to their formal Commercial Pilot Licence training.
