POLICE have released vital CCTV footage in the hunt for a driver involved in a horrific hit-and-run in Bournemouth.

Detectives are appealing for help in tracking down Bournemouth man Dean Cambage in relation to the incident on Poole Hill over Bank Holiday weekend.

They are offering a £3,000 reward in return for information leading to his arrest.

At 4.30am on Sunday August 24, emergency services were called to Poole Hill after a car repeatedly hit pedestrians on the pavement.

The car fled the scene, driven off in the direction of Terrace Road toward the BIC, and a short time later, officers located the vehicle, a grey 318 BMW estate, abandoned on the East Overcliff.

A 22-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man, both from Bournemouth, were taken to Poole Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the victims, Jordan March, 22, told the Daily Echo how people and running and screaming but the driver kept coming back for more.

The second victim, Winchester general manager, Mark Berry, needed 30 stitches to his face and also suffered a fractured wrist and injuries to his chin in the incident.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bell, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Following further enquiries, we are trying to locate the suspect, Dean Cambage who is 32 years old and from Bournemouth, and I am now able to release a picture of him.

“I am appealing for anyone who knows of the whereabouts of Dean Cambage to come forward – all calls will be treated with the strictest confidence.

“In the interest of personal safety, I urge members of the public who see anyone they believe to be the person pictured to call police and not to approach him.”

A reward of up to £3,000 is being offered by the Crimestoppers charity for information leading to an arrest. 

In order to qualify for the reward anyone with information should call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.

DS Bell continued: “I hope that this cash reward will encourage anyone with information that will help us to apprehend the suspect to come forward.”

A spokesperson for Crimestoppers said: “This is a traumatic incident that has taken place and I am just pleased that the injuries sustained were not more serious.

“I would ask anyone who has any information on this hit and run to contact Crimestoppers anonymously and tell us where Dean Cambage is. Nobody will know you contacted us and you would be doing the right thing by your community.”
