MARINA director Richard Turner has been selected as Ukip’s Mid-Dorset and North Poole Parliamentary candidate for the general election next year.
The chairman of Christchurch Ukip branch, Mr Turner, 38, is married with one son and the director of family business the Willow Way Marina in the same town.
He started his working life in London, spending four years as a motorcycle mechanic before moving on to healthcare and then 10 years in electrical wholesale – managing one of the busiest wholesalers in West London.
Mr Turner moved to Dorset in 2004 to help develop the marina business.
“Working in the marine industry gives me a great insight into a major part of the local economy and a keen interest in fisheries policy,” he said.
“I am honoured to be Ukip’s candidate in such an important election and doing everything I can for the people of Mid-Dorset and North Poole.
“We are getting to work straight away and I am looking forward to an energetic and positive campaign.”
