VIDEO: Major clean-up begins after travellers leave rubbish and glass bottles behind at Creekmoor

A MAJOR clean-up operation was launched at Creekmoor’s park-and-ride after travellers left the site over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Bags of rubbish were left dumped, along with gas bottles and broken glass.

Borough of Poole says it couldn’t put a price on the cost of the clean-up at this stage, as the operation was still ongoing.

However, Creekmoor ward councillor Judy Butt, below, told the Daily Echo a bus stop at the site was left smashed and a toilet, provided by the borough, had been pushed over.

Council officers have been able to confirm that three rubbish skips, costing £540, had been delivered to the park-and-ride since the travellers arrived earlier this month.

Jeff Morley, team manager for environmental and consumer protection at Borough of Poole, below, said yesterday: “We can now confirm the travellers at Creekmoor park-and-ride have now left the site.

“Works to cleanse the area and repair damage will commence today.”

Meanwhile, direction orders were served on the three traveller caravans remaining at Poole’s Sterte Esplanade yesterday.

Mr Morley explained: “Officers have visited this site which is clean and tidy.

“Temporary toilets and a skip remain on site to reduce any contamination and subsequent clean-up costs.

“The site will continue to be monitored by us as part of the legal process required for the removal of the travellers.”

Mr Morley said direction orders would be served and court time was being arranged for later this week to apply for an eviction order.

He added: “If successful the travellers will have 24-hours to leave the site after the order has been served.

“Following the departure the site will be cleaned and the metal post replaced.”

"Resecure" Creekmorr Park. "Replace" metal post at Sterte. In other words same old inappropriate solutions that will be a waste of time. Morley is Robsons puppet. Where has all the money gone? Spend it for what was approved - making vulnerable sites secure (I know these sites were not specifically mentioned but someone is sitting on £200,000 of unspent money and potentially using it for non related purposes). Come on Cllr Butt find out who has this money and what they are doing with it.

Did the travellers dump all the rubbish 15 minutes before they left? Of course not, it's been building up over the entire time that they were there, but Robson and Dion simply ignored this. They stated proudly that they were monitoring the site; very obviously they weren't, or simply didn't care about the stinking mess these 'people' were creating. Why would they? Council leadership have made it very clear that Creekmoor is the Cinderella area of Poole as far as they are concerned.
I hope they have the moral fibre to feel ashamed at their policies and actions, and the courage to stand up and say 'we will fix this so it can never happen again'.

That bus shelter was smashed many months ago. I pass that car park on a daily basis so I know for a fact that smashed glass has been there ages. Yes there is some litter there and the council will have to play to clean it up but I am pleased its somewhere hidden behind bushes in an unused car park and not at Hamworthy park, Turlin Moor rec, Branksome rec, Broadstone rec or any other place our kids play and the community use. Other than the rubbish was there much disruption or confrontation with people being verbally abused when they just try and walk their dogs erm....no! Stop moaning, if they are going to ruin anywhere let it be a disused car park before our beautiful parks.

And let the people who live opposite put up with it?????????????????

You don't want the mess in the parks. I'm sure those residents don't want it opposite their houses or in the parks. I'm sure they're more considerate than to wish it on ANYONE, unlike ..........

These travellers, or whatever they call themselves, should be 'invited' to clear up the mess they have created before they vacate the site - this is so appalling, no wonder the general public are so angered by their attitude.

People like dicey halo are only appalled if it affects them.

I really despair that there are people who think that anything's OK so long as it's not near them. Talk about "I'm all right Jack." I'd hate to be a neighbour of anyone with that attitude.

Travellers gone this makes it sound like the council did something. They have gone because they are going to the steam fair. This nonsense each year has been created because of the steam fair so let's send them the bill for the clean up and damage. We should all avoid this gypo fest that is the root cause of the problem.
If we have to provide a temporary stopping place, which we don't why not use the preferred site of the Branksome Triangle

It will never be in the preferred site of branksome triangle, that's councilor Eades ward who as the impartial mayor kept pushing the already rejected creekmoor site back in January. They spent thousands on the consultants who selected that site, another waste of money.

For how much they've spent on consultants and punching the creekmoor sites they should resign. At the end of the day the creekmoor councilors towed the line of their bosses Atkinson and Eades. It really is disgusting how they just throw money around. With the funds they've wasted they could have helped those in the Mitchell road care home they shut because they had no money, the irony of it instead of travellers who cannot even put rubbish in a skip or ***t in a portaloo.

Just be grateful you're not paying.
We are - money that could have been spent helping those in need is instead going to cleaning up after stinking creatures that seemingly can't manage to put rubbish in a skip, or s@@t in a toilet.
