POOLE aims to capitalise on the second series of ITVs Harbour Lives with a Poole Tourism advertising campaign and Facebook competition targeted at the London Underground.

Presented by Ben Fogle, the eight part series featuring the lives of local characters in and around Poole, airs on Thursdays at 8.30pm.

Visits to pooletourism.com doubled over the weekend after the first two programmes went out and posters with the message “Taste Harbour Life in Poole – As seen on Harbour Lives ITV1” have appeared across the London Underground at 25 stations.

It asks visitors to like the Poole Tourism Facebook page or visit pooletourism.com.

A competition challenges people to post a selfie with a poster on the Facebook page, with the chance to win tickets to some top local attractions.

Bruce Grant-Braham, chairman of Poole Tourism partnership, said: “Having iconic images on prime time television and around London is a fantastic opportunity to maximise Poole’s exposure over the coming weeks.”

Good luck to 'em. Tourists will probably go to the harbour for a day and then flock to Bournemouth.

What a rubbish programme it is! Fogle spends most of the time talking to posh outsiders and ignores true locals. The last series focused on mostly Sandbanks and property prices. I dont know anyone from Poole who thinks it's any good at all? Waste of a half an hour!

Beats me why anybody would want to visit Bournemouth or Poole given the number of trolls who post negative comments. Maybe we should get Rotherham Council to put adverts all over the two towns to attract the trolls to see what life is like somewhere less attractive.

Everywhere has its good and bad sides, in the case of Bournemouth and Poole it is set beside some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world and in general has a great climate. On the downside it has the problems of addiction, vagrancy and antisocial behaviour that mar towns up and dowm the country - we have our share and maybe more of it given the amount of treatment centres in the area. But in general we should think ourselves lucky we live in such a lovely area and try and use it to our advantage, playing down the less attractive sides that most people have got to put up with where they live.

I agree its shows the beauty of our area, I of know lots of people that would love to live 10 mins from a beach. I appreciate where i live but suggest all the negative people may like to look round and move i am sure there are much cheaper places to live.

I live not far from Bournemouth beach in the town centre, and while some nights, especially the summer Fridays and Saturdays when it can get pretty lairy with the stag and hen parties and general drunken tomfoolery it isn't all that bad. Walking down by the beach very early before people descend on it, or sitting up on one of the beaches overlooking the bay from the clifftops by the Westcliff, pure beauty.

Nice place to go for breakfast is Aruba - at opening time, a real chill out if it is nice weather and the beach is quiet!!!

Basically if Fogle is fronting a show, it's a dudd. Look at Animal Park with him and Kate Humble. One giant fat advert for Longleat that's all it was.

He's got himself fronting Rolphs Animal Hospital on channel 5. Not because he's a great presenter or that it's a groundbreaking viewing experience, it's just the Rolph is busy with another project for the next few years.

They could've used a beach scene or aerial pictures of the piers ect but NO! UNION BLOODY JACKS with bournemouth written in white on it. The Union Jack was everywhere you looked in London. Any foreign visitor would've seen 'Bournemouth' as an insurance sponsor.

Probably the same creative finger painting morons grunting 'CINEMA' at every town decision.

There's nowt wrong with Rotherham. In fact, Poole & Bournemouth could learn a few things from the town - for example:

1 - The police don't take no messing about. If you're a "wrong 'un", you'll know about it.
2 - Proper fish & chips.
3 - You can get a decent pint for less than a couple o' quid. None of this serving ale with no head malarkey for £3.50 a go.
4 - Folk say hello to each other and show respect - it's called looking after each other.
5 - People can drive cars without having accidents every morning.
6 - No waste of space MP's or councillors - if you want the job, you have to earn it.

And before anyone asks the reason why there are so many of us Northerners down here if it's so great up North, the answer is - look around you!
