OLD traffic signs at a busy Wimborne Road junction in Poole were being turned off at 9.30am this morning and will be replaced.
Work on the junction with Dorchester Road and Wimborne Road is progressing well and this phase to replace the corroded signal poles, is due to take four weeks.
New equipment will be installed and in the meantime temporary signals will be in use, which is likely to add to congestion, particularly at peak times.
Cllr Ian Potter, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation at Borough of Poole, said: “The works are now at a stage in the process where temporary lights are required. This is likely to cause some congestion and we would like to thank local residents and road users for their understanding and patience while improvements to this busy junction are carried out.”
Ward member Cllr Peter Adams said: “It will make a real difference to those people who use this junction and is a step in the right direction.”
